More than 6 million people have chosen Invisalign clear braces – the lifestyle benefits are second to none. Many adults are put off by the prospect of having metal braces fitted and simply rule this out as a treatment option. Treatment consists of a sequence of clear aligner trays which are custom manufactured. A treatment plan is prepared and patients change up to the next aligner in the sequence every 1 – 2 weeks as advised. Teeth are re-aligned gradually as each aligner is worn for the prescribed time.
As the trays are made of plastic, they are smooth and comfortable to wear with no metal to cause any soreness or irritation. They are worn all the time and removed when eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. They can be removed for special occasions as required.
How much does treatment cost?
Clear braces treatment costs vary because the treatment is based on personal requirements. As a guide the investment ranges from £3000 – £5000 based on a 12 – 18 month treatment plan. If only small adjustments are needed the cost can be as low as £1500. Aligners can be for top and bottom teeth or top or bottom teeth only. We offer monthly payment plans with interest free finance. Insurance cover can also be used towards the cost of your treatment, this can be health or dental insurance or orthodontic cover. We aim to make treatment affordable to all our patients.
Is treatment suitable for me?
Invisalign can treat all of the problems which can be treated by fixed metal braces – the key difference is that the device is practically invisible and also fully removable. Here are some examples of orthodontic issues treated:
Crowded teeth – teeth can become crowded and crooked if there is not enough room on the upper and lower jaws for all permanent teeth. Crooked teeth are difficult to clean and can become discoloured, and patients can also have a greater chance of tooth decay or gum disease.
Gaps between teeth – teeth may be missing or if the jaw has grown too large there may be gaps between the teeth.
Crossbites – this is a common issue, and is when a tooth or several teeth on the upper jaw bite inside of the lower teeth. This can lead to uneven wear, jaw bone erosion and gum disease.
Overbites – this is when the top teeth reach beyond or cover the bottom teeth. This can lead to jaw pain and TMJ.
Underbite – this is the reverse of an overbite – the bottom teeth reach beyond or cover the top teeth. This can lead to jaw pain and TMJ.
What are the advantages of treatment?
Leading dentists consider clear braces as the best way to achieve a beautiful straight smile. Fixed braces are highly visible and not removable, so they can make patients feel more self conscious as a result. Clear braces are fully removable, smooth and comfortable to wear and patients can smile all the way through their treatment and after once they have achieved their ideal smile. There are also no restrictions in terms of foods to eat and cleaning and care is easier and faster.
Treatment is based on a full treatment plan which will outline the number of trays required to re-align your teeth, this is on average between 20 and 30 custom made trays. At your consultation appointment, your dentist will scan your teeth using a technology called an iTero element. This will be used to prepare your digital smile simulation and the process will enable you to see your smile from start to finish.
You will need to wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink and brush your teeth. Patients quickly get used to wearing their aligners, and an app from Align tech allows you to track your progress and see the development of your new smile. Trays should always be removed when eating and drinking as food can become stuck in the trays, or trays can become cracked or broken as a result of biting and chewing. If you are drinking water your trays can be kept in otherwise they need to be removed when drinking any other beverage. You will change up to the next aligner in your sequence every seven to fourteen days as per your treatment plan. You will be able to see your new smile develop and the system is proven to give you the ideal smile and confidence you are looking for. We look forward to welcoming you to our Beaconsfield dental facilities.
